    Electronic Ignition Systems

Is anyone familiar with or had experience of the 123 Ignition system:

    https://www.123ignition.de/123-distributor/porsche.aspx

I am thinking of using it on my '69S.
Does it eliminate the need for the CDI box?
    Is it a straightforward installation?

    Regards,
    Andy

I didn't see one for your car. You might contact them and ask the question.

I have been using an ignition system from Part Klassik in Flagstaff, AZ. Kurt Donohoe is the guy there. He uses your distributor and installs a Pertronix ignitor to replace the points. Kurt has a programmable CDI module that look very similiar to the original Bosch Unit that allows you to set you timing electronically. This is for a single plug ignition system, I don't think Kurt has his twin-plug system available yet.

    Hello,
the 123 Ignition is a quite good system. I use it on a beetle and a 67s engine.... Easy to handle and nice to set up. You "can" even install it in an old distributor. The 123 ignition just works better than a "classical" ignition system. You can't use it with a HKZ/CDI box...

If your engine has got a CDI box, I would stay with the CDI system, there are several on the markets....

The link above in post #1 did show applications for 3.0 SC's. Of course they use C.D. ignition.
