    WTB: 73-77 oil tank

For my '73E. Looking for a tank in good shape. Looks like any tank from 73-77 should work.

I think the 73 oil tank is a one year only item. Others will work though.

I’ve seen reference to that but couldn’t find the specific differences. But most references say a tank up to ‘77 will work. Anyone know for sure?

73 tank is one year only, but 74 and later will work. One of the differences is the tank is deeper/longer, so you might see the bottom of the tank you wouldn’t see with the 73 tank. In 74 the rear valance was lower to hide the tank.

For quick identification, the 73 tank has a removable oil filter console. On the 74 and later tank, the filter screws right on the tank as pictured on post #5.

Any ramifications from using one without the oil filter console?

No just a little messier removing the filter.
