Question Beware Social Engineering going on?

Hi I am not yet sure if this is a real Problem, but I got a PM and a "friendship request" of a relatively new member here.
He has so far 6 posts and they are all more of a generic kind and could have been made by somebody with no clue at all.
What irritated me was he was referring in his PM to some post or email from me regarding some not really defined Recaro Stuff with a given date - and I didn't send an email PM or post a thread on that specific date. It's got a certain fishy taste seems he's trying to build a reputable ID.
As I am not yet sure whether this is going to be a scam I'll wait before posting a his Nick but his Name in his PM is Dean.
    So be awake...

    Cheers
    Uli

I agree that there is something going on here. I recently posted about lots of suspicious activity by a large # of "members" with zero posts but checking out our profiles. See the list of recent visitors to your profile; semi-random names without numbers that joined a few years ago but no posts. Since that time I have been getting a lot of spam whereas I had very little before that happened. So, yes I think we are being targetted.

Perhaps this is mentioned elsewhere so i apologize but on my Mac the site is showing as "Not Secure" in the URL in Safari. Perhaps relevant, not meaning to derail thread.

Just checked my visitors for the first time. Ten names all with an unpronounceable combination of letters. WTF?

Site admin has not applied for secure server. You'll see "https" when the server is secure. Not a big deal. Has nothing to do with cyber prowlers.

Our tech admin said there is not much we can do without disrupting the flow of communication and deleing the accounts of those unused for over a year.... which would be a headache in both directions...

One thing is, as Peter has mentioned before, PLEASE try to keep all personal info of the board and limited to PM's

Sorry at this time there isn't more...
