    Tourist Delivery

I would like to introduce my car and in doing so, begin a thread dedicated to Tourist Delivery aka European Delivery or PTD.

My 1971 911E was purchased new on November ninth 1970 by the original owner. 9/11/1970 as it was written on the invoice. I wonder if he waited until that day, or if it was just a lucky coincidence? His wife was Swiss and they were living in Switzerland at the time. He knew they would be coming home to California and he decided he would be bringing a brand new Porsche with him. He opted into the Tourist Delivery program and took delivery of his new car at the factory on November 27th 1970. Apparently, he owned a 1967 911 that was traded in towards his new car at a dealership in Geneva, Switzerland. He kept meticulous records and luckily I have every single receipt and invoice for this car since BEFORE day 1. I am proud to be the second owner of this car and I have been carrying on the tradition. As she sits today she still wears mostly original paint. mostly original interior, and is numbers matching in every way.

Interesting info. My car's prior owner indicated (unconfirmed, so far) that my car was also a Tourist Delivery car, with a dealer code in the records of UAT (said to be Los Angeles/Tourist Delivery). I haven't done anything to confirm that yet, but other indications are consistent. The car is an early '72 T coupe, and has two options that were not common for normal dealer delivered cars. It has factory A/C, and rather than the typical speaker/antenna package with dealer installed radio it lists a factory installed Frankfurt. The service booklet shows a "delivery date" of 4 Oct 1971 with 1932 miles. So it seems likely that those miles were spent touring Europe in Sept '71.

Very, very cool...it's wonderful to see a car that has paperwork from the beginning of its life. We have been trying to trace our 1965 912 project through some of the owners, but have been able to go back from current day to 1995 only. From 1965 forward has been a dead end; the original owner picked up the car in Europe, and drove around for a bit before sending it to the Seattle are where he lived. He passed away in 1980 without any family. Between 1965 and 1980 is a complete blank.

The car will be restored as much as possible over time as we believe it is a 1965 US car, not a 1966; mph instruments, 6402 paint code (Rubinrot), 3 gauge painted dash. It is currently painted Guards Red without the topcoat.
This was taken the other day in her garage.Name: 5AAEDED4-BB6F-4188-A618-C3C62B3EA354.jpg

The first two payment receipts are, I believe, a partial payment and final payment on the sales invoice. The last one is a payment with regards the car apparently.
