Thread: Early SWB body panels, fenders , bumpers

I updated a couple of photos (max of 10) of the inside of the bucket of both the NOS fender and other. I have decided to take the red fender to be lightly vapour media blasted to remove the light surface rust and flaking paint ... I want to make sure the photos are clear for everyone. The red one has at least 2 coats of paint which also will be removed. I will have the fender primed with automotive primer to avoid any flash rust... I will post the new photos in a new add maybe just showing the fenders as this will allow me to post more detailed photos. I do have some photos of the tapered wheel lip .. I could send them if you send a PM. I will post all photos once I get the fender back.. I listed the fenders as SWB fender... I don't know the exact date of the fenders...I will keep everybody posted.

The fender was lightly vapour blasted to reveal condition. As I figured... The passenger fender is in good shape with only a couple of small issues below. The fender is solid and can be easily repaired by a body person. This is what I discovered:

    1) Small perforation at bottom of fender only on front side.
    2) Past repair on back side of signal box see photo.
    3) Headlight bucket has no issues on either side
    4) Couple of small dings as to be expected.
    5) Both passenger and Drivers fender appear to be the same. Both fenders have tapered wheel arches.
    6) Not sure of the year of the Porsche parts but are all SWB.

I have decided to sell the following as a lot... 2 back bumpers, 1 front bumper with headlight covers, Deco trim and Brackets, 1 drivers fender NOS, 1 passenger fender
at lot price for 4500 US. + Shipping+PP Will ship worldwide. If you are interested in serparate parts see above pricing.

Hi Tom- The fenders believe would fit the 66... I don't know when the change was made. The appearance from the outside is the same. Both of my fenders have the narrowing of the inside of the wheel arch( see photo above). This narrowing was to accommodate wider tires. I am not sure if your original fenders had this narrowing or not? It was suggested in a post above that the narrowing could fabricated back to original by adding the inner lip back onto the fender.. I think it really depends what your plans are for the car? For my projects, I would always try and find original fenders and body parts as I find the fit to be much better... It is difficult to find original parts in good condition...

Free bump for a truly good post. I compliment the seller for the clarity and effort.

As I offered previously, the NOS fender is properly represented. It should fit any SWB car ('64-'68), and should be absolutely acceptable and correct. Between '64 and '68, Porsche addressed a number of issues in the 911 design, and one of those issues was the move to wider wheels/tires (from 15x4.5" to 15x5.5"). If you intend to drive your car, in my opinion, you will want fenders with the tapered lips. (Personally, I cannot imagine driving a SWB 911S with those 4.5" tires. There's just not enough rubber there to make me feel safe while enjoying the horsepower.)

Any '64-'67 911/912 that has been driven/enjoyed and restored is probably wearing replacement fenders. (Some guys even trimmed the lips of their original fenders to allow wider wheels.) But there may be a few dry weather/desert '64-'67 cars that still have those fenders.

I applaud the seller for the hard work invested in this offering. Good luck with the sale. Both of the fenders look great.

Do you owe the seller money?

No Relation to the seller. I can separate the fenders, front and back bumpers... all are in great condition.

Second, the original '68 fenders had two holes behind the headlight bucket for those side reflectors that were '68-only.
what is interesting is that i have NOS 1969-1973 front fenders and they have a full lip. Should i taper the lip or fold it for 1969-1973?
Would all NOS front fenders for for 1969-1973 have a full lip? Or are my fenders odd balls?
