The quota of 51 rhd examples from the first 500 series was already sold out by the time this magazine was hitting the streets in mid October 1972.
This was published for / around the time of the Earls Court British Motorshow which followed immediately after the Paris launch of the Carrera RS a week or so earlier.
Presumably with hardcopy print deadlines the advert in a glossy national magazine was booked and copy written at a time the German and GB importer sales organisation were concerned they could sell the 500. The publication is not a car magazine it is a long standing publication which is generally associated with well heeled country gentry and aspiring country folks who like horses, hunting shooting and fishing etc -- not in magazine like Autosport the bible for the motorsport community.

Maybe even placed the advert before the importer PCGB knew there would be a second RS series? As previously posted elsewhere the second series was just being announced (as mentioned in this excerpt from a British motoring weekly breaking Motorshow news page around same date). No mention of the more productionized third RS series that would come into being once the first circa 500 plus 500 more homologation special editions had been completed / homologation achieved and the market cottoned on. Kudos to the purchasors of those 51.

This was around four months before the RSR ( itself in prototype class because RS homologation hadn't been completed) beat the full works prototypes to take overall victory in 24 hours of Daytona in Feb and other successes created awareness of the model so can't be said the original purchasors of that first fifty were placing orders RS in response to that success.
There is evidence of the RS launch being out of step with the usual annual new model cycle as the country price list for Great Britain in my car's files was reprinted specifically to include the new RS to coincide with the launch-- reprint just a few weeks after the same price list was issued for model year 73 but prior one had no mention of the limited edition homologation Carrera RS.
Sharing the advert for folks interested in how it was done back then by the sole UK importer Porsche Cars Great Britain -- one of the so called rest of world markets where the Carrera RS was sold officially when brand new starting in first week of October 1972.
