    Interesting 911 T 1973 and owner

I have met a very interesting person and his 911 T last Friday.

The owner is on the left of the picture. He owns it since 1978 and the car has now over 800.000 km!

And here is the interior of the car.

This is a daily driver car and the owner is a former member of Raymond Touroul racing team. He is a living book about this team and a lot of others things, not all of them related to Porsche.
It was a pleasure to finally meet him, after many talks on the phone

Holy cow, this is incredible! 800k km, daily driver, and what looks to be a steering wheel shifter mounted to a 73 longhood? This guy is living the dream! I'm sure he can tell the best stories all day long. Thanks for sharing.
Currently in between Porsches. Sold my 73.5T Targa, now suffering from serious withdrawal symptoms. Attending Rennsport Reunion VI didn't really help getting over it.

    Commands admiration.
I think there was an article about him quite a few years ago in Flat Six Magazine.

He has a hand lever for the brakes, the throttle on the 2nd steering wheel ring. Clutch is electro-hydraulic command?

The clutch command is a kind of trigger in front of the gearbox lever, and the clutch itself is actionned by a former wiper motor. I have tested it briefly and you can modulate the action with your finger.
    Really clever installation.

But the owner is the by far the most interesting part of this "couple". He was involved into the 70's French racing scene that was really active then. He still owns a "3.0 RS" built on a 2.2 S chassis. That car has made Le Mans at least once and even if it is not an official 3.0 RS, is actually lighter than a factory car. I hope to see that car next time I will meet him.

In the UK Marc Haynes the son of John Haynes ( Haynes Publishing Group) was an inspirational character. He died in 2016. Marc had a degenerative spine condition from a young age but lived life to the full. He was the first paraplegic driver to have a race licence issued by the UK governing body for Motorsport the RAC MSA. Others who might have once not bothered with Motorsport due to disability followed his inspirational lead into the sport. I was fortunate to meet him when l led the strategic review into UK Motorsport for the FIA affiliated RAC MSA a number of years ago -- he provided input alongside other influential stakeholders, particularly in his case from the perspective of disabled drivers. Marc competed in national GT racing including the Porsche classic championshiop in a 911 T and an SC.

The 911T he raced was displayed at the Haynes museum -- he became its CEO.

    Hats of to these guys.

    Steve
