Cloth used around windows for headliner

    Hi,

I am hoping someone might have some good pictures of how and where the factory applied the cheesecloth? as a backing for the headliner etc. Sadly the previous owner of my ripped out the interior in the early 70's so not much remained. Anybody out there have better pictures and/or notes?

    TIA,

    JK

Thanks Franz, look forward to your e-mail. I found some of the weird paper like material in my car also. Same as that used on the 356's on the bumper bars

What was the purpose of this, and is it necessary to install the headliner correctly?

    @ Chuck
per my definition of correctly it is necessary for 64+65(not sure about 66).
but since porsche skipped this fashion youV got nothing to fear if you do so as well.
purpose : obviously to protect the headliner

That's crepe tape, most upholsterers use to use it. In this application to help smooth out spots where metal transitions would be visible.
