    FS: @hmn -- 9112301096 . . .

    VIN = 9112301096
    Eng# = 6321553
    Trans# = 7725014
    Prod# = ?

    '. . . originally used by the Porsche Factory for internal use. It was originally delivered in Emerald (Kelly) Green with a rare interior to sample, code 99, in Brown Buffalo Leather with Meran Cloth Inserts. In addition, the dashboard, door panel, key strips, hat rack, armrests and more were also covered in Buffalo leather. The build sheet & Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche state that the seating was in complete Meran cloth with dark brown carpet throughout the vehicle. Porsche AG and numerous experts have been unable to determine what Meran Cloth looked like and state that it was likely a one-off material unique to this car. The car currently has a full Buffalo Leather interior without the Meran Cloth. It likely left the factory as it is shown. This example also has a unique set of factory painted rims in the exterior color with the rim flange polished, that were recently restored by Harvey Weidman.

    This vehicle was used by the Porsche testing facility. The vehicle was driven by Volkswagen of America Vice President in charge of Porsche/Audi Division, John A. Cook. John Cook ran the Porsche/Audi Division from 1969 to 1974. He left Porsche in 1974 to become the first BMW of North America President. After leaving BMW he returned to Porsche in 1984 to become the first President and CEO of the newly formed Porsche Cars of North America. The car was eventually passed on to John Cook's Secretary, who then moved to Colorado. From there the car passed through the hands of Grady Clay's Rennenhaus Ltd., Mike Branam, Steve Shea, Joe Byron and Frank Gallogly. John Truban, of Truban Motor Company, purchased the car in 2012. John Cook passed away on June 2, 2004.

    This Porsche is factory equipped with many period options such as, Air Conditioning, 5-speed transmission, electric sunroof, H4 Halogen Headlights and Becker Mexico Radio.

    This example is equipped with options that are believed to have been put on the car while in the testing department. These items would not have shown up on the build sheet and would have been documented separately by the testing department. According to Rolf Sprenger, who has had a long distinguished career with the Porsche Factory, stated that those records were destroyed in a flood many years ago in Germany. The car currently has fender flares and is wearing 7” and 8” Fuchs.

    Mr. Cook prior to his passing, stated that the car came out of the Testing Department at Porsche. “They tested a number of items on the car as well as comfort options.” He listed the car as having Factory Airport gears, RSR suspension components such as the RSR 18 mm sway bars, a full leather interior, larger shift tower and RSR flywheel. Some of these items have not been independently verified with Porsche due to lack of records on Porsche's behalf.

    Extensive research has been done both here in the U.S. and at the Porsche Factory Archives. There has been research completed by Randy Leffingswell, Rolf Sprenger and Dr. Georg Konradsheim, as well as Porsche Factory employees. Harm Lagaaij, Former Chief Designer for Porsche, called the car an “Interim Car” between the 911S and 1973 Carrera RS when he analyzed the car at Amelia Island in 2014.

    Strong evidence suggests that 9112301096, was a special one-off example produced by the Porsche Design/Testing Facility. The purpose of this one-off build was likely to test the boundaries and feasibility of design and performance. These tests may have been directly connected to a specific future program or simply an opportunity to test the feasibility of design concepts.

    Porsche Classics in Germany has stated that they are able to restore the interior to its original state, including the Meran Cloth from the original supplier. They would not sell just the material or provide a photo, because the material has to be produced from scratch.

    This vehicle has remained in our collection, having been showed at numerous national shows to include, Greenwich Concours, Pinehurst Concours, Greenbrier Concours, Porsche Parade and Hilton Head Concours.

    The car has had a high level professional bare metal repaint while much of the rest of the car remains original.

    This car offers a unique opportunity to own one of the most unique long hood 911's with period provenance.

    .

    Question about this vehicle. We can observe two certificates for the same car. One more complete than the other. For example, the interior. Before it was sample 99 and in the following one it is shown as sample 99 but more complete (as if they could have seen the "studio-porsche" sheet later) to complement it? It is also observed in the number of the gearbox. One they put 7 "that doesn't exist" others don't. But for example... Where does the information on "Non-Rusting Exhaust Pipe" come from? Why wasn't it shown in the initial COA? The perforated brake discs should be something that Did it appear in the initial COA? Or was "porsche-studio" also commissioned to do that? I doubt it... but this is further proof that these documents are almost nothing, right?
    I would like to think that at some point the vehicle information was linked to a study sheet and that is why it was possible to fill in that data. Why else would that difference be...?

    The old COA's were obviously better than what they do now. You're at the hands of the individual doing the work to input all the details. Either way this car is special!
