Thread: Fuel Problem

    Fuel Problem

I took my 911T out for a drive yesterday as rebuilt carbs were done over the winter. After the car sat for about 45mins I opened
the rear hood to see if all was ok.I installed a clear fuel filter before the carbs as they were just rebuilt.I noticed that it appeared as fuel was coming back from the carbs into the clear filter and it looked like the fuel was boiling. The car ran fine but I'm not sure if this fuel boiling appearance is of concern. Day was about 25C and the car ran between 180 to 200 degrees, and I'm running Webers.
Any thoughts to this problem would be appreciated.
    Thanks John

Did you replaced ALL the insulators?
Not sure about your engine setting/configuration/tuning but you should avoid boiling fuel because this can lead to bigger problems (not just vapour lock)....

You probably left the car sitting for too long at idle (low air flow)

I did not take off the intake manifolds. So not sure if it has insulators. Are these visible when you look at the intake manifolds or do you have to take the intake manifolds off to see if you have insulators.

Insulators are between cylinders and intakes so if you didn't removed the manifolds they should be still in place.
You should see something like a gasket 2mm tall.
Generally they needs replacing because they cracks with hot/cold cycles.
If they are still here I would take the car for a ride to see if the problem persists and to check normal operating (whils driving) temperatures.

Many times ago it was a good practice before shutting down to rev the engine at 4k rpm and turn off the key to drain some fuel from the carburators.

Routing additional length fuel line and a bracket to house the filter at a better spot to one side of the car, should solve it.
