    USB Outlet

has anyone added a usb outlet in their Porsche? Have a car that started life as a '69 912. There is a hole in the dash for what I think would be fog light switch. While small, I might be able to use it. Any other ideas of this add would be appreciated. Thank you

    '86 44 Turbo, black/red,7's and 8's fuchs, autothority - sold (rocketship)
'97 Boxster, first delivered in DC Metro, silver/red -sold (huge mistake to buy this one)
'99 C2, silver/black, RoW M030, limited lip, short shift - sold (good ride, but...)

    '69 912, 3.2 with all the trimmings
    (finally got air cooled)

Have a retro sound radio installed and there is an auxillery USB port that I velcro’d Under the knee pad to the right of the ashtray. Would also like to do the same for another car I am building minus the radio. Just use it as a phone charger when needed. I don’t have a source yet, but open to suggestions too.
I would not want to put it high up in the dash where it is noticeable.

Commonly available at truck stops and radio shack type stores.

I have this one in my Sailboat- It has two outlets and also shows voltage. It is cigarette lighter size but with bracket would fit in glove box. EBAY-Name: USB.jpg

I had a spare ashtray and did that in my BMW.
Within the ashtray I formed a phone holder with 2 component rubber putty.

The USB charger PCB I removed from some 5€ China crap adaptor and it's now in a solid block of epoxy in the ashtray.

I've used the lighter adapter and it's fine... but Uli's solution is more elegant. Great idea!
