    Sugar Scoop or H1/H4 ?

I’m not sure if this poll has been taken yet, but I tried finding one and I couldn’t. The Porsche 911 was not originally designed to have the US DOT Headlights. That being said, they are correct for all 1968-1973 cars. Living in the US with a US market car, do you make the switch or do you keep it original? Just for fun assume you have both sets of lights already and cost is not an object.

Should be called the "bug scoop" After a trip it was necessary to remove the headlights to remove their crushed remains from inside the housing.

I can see that if you live in the US, and your car was originally delivered in the US, you would want to keep the sugar scoops for originality’s sake. But they just look droopy and sad to me, while the H1/H4 style is happy, fresh and eager. Just my $0.02.

My prior '84 Carrera had its scoops in it when I bought it. I changed to H4s within a couple months, but kept the scoops on a shelf. Reinstalled them before I sold the car, and moved the H4s to my '72 immediately. The original chrome scoops for the '72 are on that same shelf. But I can't see myself ever putting them back on the cr.

The scoops are a sin against nature. Now the ultimate “outlaw” look.

I kept my sugar scoops but replaced the DOT Sealed beam with a Hella H4. Simple, inexpensive and provides better lighting.

I completely agree. I live in the U.S., my '69 came with scoops, and so they stay.

To me, it's totally an acceptable upgrade/swap to go to H1/H4. Kinda like turbo tie rod upgrade. Besides it's can be reversed if someone really wanted them back on.
