    Decklid prep pre-paint

    Guys,

    I have had my decklid painted a couple of times and can't seem to keep it from rusting at the bottom corners. We even tried dipping it prior to paint, but the same rust issues. What have you guys tried that worked? Thanks.

    I believe you are saying your hood is rusting thu from the inside out... that you have tried to "repair" this rusting thu situation by,shall we say, a non invasive way... sorry …. if this is the case you have to un- peal the skin of the hood and replace the rusting metal... If the hood is not original to the car you may be better off getting a hood that is not rusting from the inside out. by the way you may be surprised... these cars were often repaired/ restored many times over before they were 10 years old. … likely a pretty good percentage of cars had engine lids replaced....
