Stolen - 1992 Oak Metallic Green C2 Coupe

    All,

My 964 was stolen from in front of my home on Sunday night. I live in West Los Angeles near Century City. Please be on the lookout. I can be reached by email at popowitzd@gmail.com. The police have been alerted. VIN# WPOAB2966NS420410; CA License: 7BAP987. Unfortunately, I can't locate the engine and trans numbers so the VIN will have to do. The pictures are from the day I brought her home. The only change from the pictures is I added L/R black 964 big bolster sport seats. Thanks in advance for your help. -Dave

    What a drag. Handsome 964.

Assume you’re fully insured otherwise you wouldn’t have parked outside in Century City?

If nothing else please update with your settlement experience. Always interesting to watch insurance companies work.

The 964 was my daily driver for the last 5 years. It was on the street because I'm redoing my driveway and in order to use the car I could no longer keep it in the garage during the construction. And yes it is fully insured so we will see. I'll write you with the outcome.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have unfortunate current experience on this topic. A month ago my 2007 997C4 cab DD was T-boned by a driver who ran a stop sign (thus 100% fault). My car saved my life, but is a total loss. The other driver's insurance company (Geico) dealt with me directly regarding injuries and has been easy and generous (I'm a doc, so I know what is going on). My own insurance company (State Farm) has been very stingy regarding my car's valuation, lowballing me quite severely on everything, even though they have no skin in the game as they are subrogated to Geico, who will pay 100%, and even though I insure 7 vehicles, 3 houses, and a few other things with State Farm. The moral of the story is that I should have dealt with Geico directly, and maybe I will drop State Farm.

EDIT: Today State Farm got back to me with a better offer. The squeaky wheel got some grease.

Common story with State Farm. It’s their culture and brand.

There’s an industry term for this behavior; it’s called “bad faith”. Insurance companies back pedal quickly when a policy holder is FORCED to play this card.

Absolutely wrong and pitiful that their biz model is based on an initial default position of screwing the policy holder. I’m confident if we actually heard an honest explanation it would go something like this:

“Imagine how much people would have to pay for premiums if our tactic wasn’t successful most of the time.
