Thread: Euro rear fog light (police needed)

Euro rear fog light (police needed)

I'm looking for a Hella rear fog light but apparently there were two different models - K8403 and K8415.

Pictures below show that the K8403 has plastic lens that is flush fit with the chrome housing whereas the K8415 has a slightly bigger lens.

Is the bulb design also different? (I seem to remember when I had my previous car '72 911 I was not able to find a replacement bulb for the rear fog light).

So, which is more correct for model year 1970 911?

    Thanks in advance.

Installed a Hella 003030151 to serve as a third brake light in the space left vacant by use of an aftermarket exhaust system. Lamp is a red LED 1156-R27-T from superbrightled.com. Works perfectly and is quite bright.

My understanding K8403 is used on SWB cars.

Ahhhh the sixties... I envision myself one early Saturday morning wearing plaid shorts, black shoes with white socks smoking a cigarette heading to the hardware store to buy a bag of nails.
SWB cars are an acquired taste however once acquired theirs no turning back.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in the first post, I'm from the UK and would like to have a rear fog light, not a third brake light. Thanks anyway.

Yes, that makes sense. I believe this uses a bulb type that is no longer available anywhere (obsolete).

    Thanks for the info
    It's for a 70 actually. I don't have the 72 anymore. Maybe I should change my username.

I clearly understand that you are looking for a rear fog light and was merely showing you how a Hella 003030151 (larger lens) can be repurposed from being a rear fog light to being a third brake light and supplying you with a reference to a bulb that works well with the Hella housing.

I've just found out that there was another type that looks the same - K8442

Does anyone here have an old Hella catalogue for references?

    Thanks.
