A customer of mine is also on the same trip in a G model Safari
they had a break down twice .. the safari is eating up the drive shaft´s and suspension rubber like crazy , they are all streched to the max
second breakdown they lost the 5th cylinder
they had a Danish mechanic flying in from Denmark by AreoFlot twice !! ( he was not that happy with the flight to your info ) once to mongolia and a 2nd trip with in a Week !!! to russia
both times his suitcase with spare parts got lost by areoflot :-(
as I understand shops around the route open there doors, but lack of english and tools makes it hard
but they are still going strong ,
they did it once in a 1935 Bentley a few years back
15.000 KM in 5 weeks and a suitcase full of cash .. this is not a cheap trip :-0

Renee Brinkerhoff, one of our Colorado 'locals', is driving her 356A. They have had no end of motor troubles, including having to find a way to truck the car to Novosbirsk, though there seem to be continuing problems. It is clear this is a party for the wealthy!
