Thread: Center panel painted Orange??

  1. #1

    Center panel painted Orange??

I have an Irish Green '72 coupe and I'm contemplating painting the REAR center panel an off color, like Orange or Tangerine or Ivory.
I've seen it done on other cars and liked it.
Racy look along the lines of how some guys paint the bumpers an off color from the body.

Does anyone have a picture of the center panel in an off color?

    thanks, geoff

No picture to share, but rather than painting the center a contrasting color, why not a vinyl wrap down the center instead? Totally reversible? If you later decide you dont like it, you aren't stuck with it.

If you mean the rear license plate panel, those get really hot. Not sure how wrap will react.

Good point. I was thinking that the OP was talking about the center of the front trunk lid, not the license panel. Different situations.

Oh. Then I'd buy a spare panel and paint it, rather than experiment with one that matches.

My first thought would be that the owner had to install a used part before he had time to paint it. Now, if you had some more orange highlights else ware, than that would help pull it together. Maybe go up front and do the trunk or bumper and then perhaps add sone orange script on the sides. Just my opinion, and worth less than the time spent reading it. Nice looking car already.
