    Jim,

Feeling stupid that I never discovered that functionality in seven years on this site, I played around with it. So far as I can tell, Advanced Search (in both of its two slightly different modes) has limited capability to parse searching, but I see no function to limit the search to specific sections of the site. It it exists, it is too hard to find, and in any case, searching just the section you are actually in should be the default, with an option to search the entire site. It also would not hurt to have an option to sort threads either by start date (the default being most recent first) or by threads with the most recent added comments (that option might already exist; I don't know). Regarding sub-sections in the For Sale section, I'd keep them pretty general; even the dozen main sections on the Sierra Madre 911/912 page seem too many and could be consolidated as a starting point for discussion; but maybe also have a section 'NOS'. Finally, I also would not favor ebay-like bidding. All of this being 'in my opinion', of course.

On the Advanced Search page, hit the tab on top - “Search single content type”. Under “Additional options” it let’s you select which forums you want to search including classifieds (note you can select just one or multiple). Additionally you can sort by latest post or thread starting date in ascending or descending order. In essence, everything you ask for. That said, a sticky tutorial that explains how to accomplish various common searches for non-computer geeks would be helpful.

    and....much simpler.

Go to the forum you are interested in, at the top, just below the page count/page selection boxes, there is a 'search forum' pull down menu that will allow you to reach only that forum.

I vaguely remember, you could search this site by going to google using the URL for the forum, and some boolean search terms to get pretty specific results. I don't recall those exact delimiters, however.

One more reason I'm never on that forum.

My DNA is absolutely 912 based but being a big fan of cause and effect I got off that train early in life.

My take: This Spring I did a big clean out as some of you had seen and sold a lot of parts. 356 and 911. My take is quality sells however it needs to be priced correctly. Whatever you think it is worth lower it below that and it should sell. The rush to restore cars has slowed and I think the urgency with it to buy at top dollar. I agree with Frank, no one cares about insignificant or used up parts. I too wish people would not post them and bury the good stuff. Look at the Samba which is a great site but sometimes gets bogged down with real junk.

For sale ads should either be limited to paid-up members of the forum, or, if that is too far a stretch for some to imagine, the posting of photos should be restricted to members only...
