Who’s Frunk?
Not sure where you’re getting your info from unless you’re referring to previous satire from me. My track record speaks for itself in regard to helping others.
Nothing against Merv as he’s obviously very frustrated but in cases like this how on earth would anyone else be better suited to fix the problem than him? We can’t experience the problem firsthand on any level.
Funny scene. "What hump"?

I have no problem sharing my mechanical experience with others; that’s how I learned my craft. However the moment my time or knowledge leads to profit or increased value for a person with such a trivial pursuit as a collector car, I bill out for my services.
Since you have no problem doing a drive-by on me Chris how about being intellectually honest enough to concede that in this current selfish and image/validation obsessed culture, car owners often times want “the story” to build financial value of their asset or build their own self esteem.
I make no apologies for charging for my time to enhance either one.
Here’s my standing offer: Whether I supply a matching number engine case or provide substantial history for a car I’ll charge not one penny of premium as long as the owner brings me or my estate in as an equity partner when they sell their car. Isn’t that fair?

Just to close this off and thank those who added to the discussion - we did this yesterday. The 'click' noise was indeed in the upper U-Joint nearest the firewall. Bugger to get at. Both U-Joints were replaced and the shafts cleaned and correctly oriented. On the bench, however, it was clear that the locally purchased U-Joints (moulded not folded type) were binding at some angles of deflection due to minor faulty moulding of the metal yokes. Some cleaning up of this and the shaft was restored to the car with an excellent outcome. No binding and no noise!

Thanks for following up with the final resolution. That is always helpful and sometimes neglected.
