It’s very nice to see your car being built up.
It’s like we are re-living history….or living it the first time in the day.

It’s a very rare experience indeed.

    Current long term ownership: 63 Cab, 71 911, 74 914

I know how I am in the presence of greatness. I probably would have been just as reserved. It will always be a great memory.

Thanks Darren - that means a lot!

Not a lot of progress to report, as the end of year target rush at work prevents me from spending more time on the car, but I did manage to sneak a day in last week to mask the light blue lines of the ducktail.
Four hours in I had 3 lines done, but noticed that the radius on the left was very different than the one on the right.
The right side looked much better, so it had to be done again..... and again.
I haven't used these words here before I think, but after 3 attempt i thought "it was close enough", especially after seeing the - what I believe are original - paint stripes on 'R7' at Rennsport Reunion 7.
Those were all over the shop, which is not too surprising as they didn't have the time we're spending on this in between races, so I don't think half a millimeter is a big issue now .

So we'll get those painted next, then do the red stripe and get to the text on the back of the ducktail, before we can do the very last job: the actual Martini logos on both doors.
The finish line is on the horizon, but there will be quite a number of days required to get it all done.

Pretty happy with the outcome so far. A few little touch ups required, but nothing serious.

Some original Martini stickers on the next Ni-Cola auction, not sure if period correct though:
