Didn't we use to describe the pulling back of the brake pads by the resilience of the seals as hysteresis? And didn't we cure the problem by initially extending the pistons against worn brake pads or thin pieces of wood before pushing the pistons back into the calipers just enough to allow insertion of the new and thicker pads?

I use 1/8 inch hard wood as I don't have any worn pads that thin. Works great. Before I used this method my car was an E ticket ride. You never knew when the car might stop.
