    FS: @Christie's Paris Nov 4 - Chassis number 911 1100804

911T RHD purchased by Solar Production as a gift for the leading actress of the movie Le Mans, Elga Andersen. The car will be sold at auction on Nov. 4 at Christie's Paris in a sale that isn't car specific. Estimate is 250'000-350'000 Euros

A complicated provenance as the car was right hand drive, sold new by Jo Siffert on January 5 1971 (Fribourg Switzerland) to Solar Production (Steve McQueen's company), and gifted to Elga Andersen who kept the car her whole life, she left the car in her will to her best friend, a woman in Switzerland who kept it until recently.

I guess Elga lived in the the U.K.? it would explain the RHD

I seem to remember that the movie was shot during the Summer of 1970 until November. So the car was given to her just after the shooting ended.

The car seems nice and quite original based on the photographs.

Has this car been discussed here before? quite a cool story....

This is really an interesting and nice information..
    thank you thomas.
btw I always ask myself: in the opening scene of "le mans", where she is standing at the flower wagon, at the left side there is a red car.
    is it a 911?
It is seen in the total, when the slate gray is approaching the crossing . .

I think this is a Ferrari 330 GT.

But there seems to be a white 911 on the right. It is best seen on your third picture, next to the nose of the Citroën U23.
My watch dealer was a small boy when this scene was taken and has got an autograph from Mr McQueen, signed on the famous slate grey 911!

I can take pictures from the same points of view, today, but a lot of things have changed, except the cathedral, of course!

you are right with the white, obviously a 901 shaped car . . hmm..
the red . . do you think really a 330 GT . .nevertheless I am impressed how fast you reacted.
and yes please, a pic from the "nearby same" spot today would be fascinating.
also nice would be the pic of the "autogram" of your watchdealer . .

It may be the same 365 GT as this one:

I will try to take pictures soon, and ask my watchdealer

That red car looks like a dark red Ferrari 365 GT 2+2
