Engine side tin to cam housing - oil leak?

'72 T 2.4 - Do the 3 bolt holes where the side tin attach to the cam housing go through to the oil chamber? I'm tracking down oil leaks, and on the right side I seem to have a leak that appears to be coming from one or two of those 3 bolts. The upper valve cover is not leaking, and the top side of the tin is dry.

Arne- How much oil? I've seen weeping oil from assembly lube in this area, but it doesn't last long.

I don't think it's assembly lube, I've got 1000 miles on the engine now, and it comes back in short order if I clean it up. Looks like clean, fresh oil.

I'll pull that piece of tin off and see if I can track it down.

For those small leaks I clean all the oil off with brake clean. I then spray some powder leak detector, talc works too. That lets you see where it is migrating from. My bet is the oil is coming from up top. Is your breather hose well clamped?

Had the same issue, confirmed that holes were blind tapped so were not the source. Removed tin and discovered leak was from a warped upper valve cover. Was able to sand flat and all is well again, till next leak appears.

Yup, this is the issue. The original mag valve cover is rather badly warped. Not sure sanding it flat will work, it's pretty bad. I may need to replace it instead.
