Vintage Racing Group with PCA Club Racing at Road America Labor Day Weekend

As a follow up to the thread about PCA Club Racing's new vintage group racing at Laguna Seca last weekend, Chicago Region is hosting its 26th annual Club Race at Road America Friday through Labor Day Monday and for the first year will include a separate vintage group. PCA realizes that owners and racers of vintage race cars may not necessarily want to risk their cars running with more modern race cars. Accordingly, two years ago PCA Club Racing created a new vintage class for air cooled cars up to 1989. It's a bit more laid back than regular PCA Club Racing, with no points awarded nor a season long national championship but it is also real wheel to wheel racing under the standard PCA 13/13 rules. More information can be found on the PCA.org website. Ample practice time the first two days and then two sprint races, one on Sunday and the second on Monday. Check it out!

Holy crap! My ‘67 2-liter prepped to the 1967 GCR is ridiculously outclassed. Most of these cars are prepped outside of any GCR, though there was a nice 914 that wound up in a tire wall this morning. Folks are driving a bit aggro even in the test and tune; I’m just trying to stay out of their way!

Rich, the Test and Tune Group that you are in is a grab bag of different PCA CR classes with some fairly "heavy metal" in the group. For instance, 996 and 997GT3's.
I would suggest you wait until tomorrow, when the Vintage Group runs as a separate group to see what you think then.
However, you should also be aware that PCA CR has a pretty broad definition of "vintage" with essentially allowing all air cooled Porsches into that broad definition, breaking it down into several classes within the vintage group.
Many vintage sanctioning bodies in the USA have various broad definitions of what constitutes a vintage race car. I believe that RMVR may be among the more restrictive. HSR is pretty broad, etc.
I'm trailering over tonight and will be paddocked in the West Paddock, near the bathrooms and the Medical facility. My car is #3 signal orange. Stop over or I will look you up in the grid.

Thank you for the thoughtful response. Yes; you are right. I have some great folks to actually race with in the vintage group, rather than just staring in my mirrors like yesterday. Though I would note that today in two out of four sessions I was passed under a waving yellow flag right where the pass occurred. Folks need to calm down a little, IMO.
