Yes, Ivory was a rare, sonderwunsch color, unlike light ivory. I like light colors but white was just too "refrigerator". The car was originally silver but that finish was failing after a few years. Orig owner Mark painted it Aubergine which makes me want to upchuck (no flames, please - to each their own). Having a completely open choice (among '73 Porsche colors) it was either grey beige or ivory for me. It's always a crapshoot when you've never seen a car in that color and you take the plunge. When it was all together I had to smile. I love the color and I have only seen one other 911 like it.

Car will be on B A T shortly.

    BaT Description:

This 1973 Porsche 911T is finished in Ivory over a green and black interior and is powered by a 3.2L flat-six mated to a 915/73 five-speed manual transaxle. The car was sold new at Rexroat Porsche in Moline, Illinois, and later moved to Minnesota after the seller acquired it from the first owner in 2004. A subsequent refurbishment was completed in 2010 included the installation of a sunroof roof panel, a bare-metal repaint, an interior refresh, and the powertrain conversion. Additional features consist of 911S trim, an Elephant Racing oil cooler, and refinished 16” Fuchs alloy wheels. This 911T is now offered with owner’s manuals, documents dating back to new, refurbishment records, and a clean Minnesota title in the seller’s name.

The car is said to have been originally finished in silver, and was reportedly optioned with an S front spoiler and trim as well as tinted windows. After a collision repair in 1986 the body was repainted in Aubergine. A refurbishment that was begun in 2008 included the welding in of a sunroof clip, and a bare-metal repaint in Ivory. The seller notes orange peel in the paint on the left rear panel, as well as a dent on the right rear panel and chips in various areas. The headlights have been replaced with H5 halogen units.

Staggered-width 16″ Fuchs measure 6″ up front and 7″ out back. The wheels were refinished by the Al Reed in California and wear Dunlop SP Sport FM901 tires with 2004 date codes.

The interior was refurbished with green leather upholstery and Pepita seat inserts from Autos International Inc., along with green square weave carpet and reproduction sun visors. The seller reports that there are two tears on the headliner, and a split seam is present near the right A-pillar. A rear defroster is present but is not wired in.

A leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a tachometer from a 1984 Carrera. The seller notes the speedometer is not working due to the electronic speed sensor from the later-model transaxle. The five-digit odometer indicates 92k miles, though true mileage is unknown. The seller believes the mileage to be around 200k miles, and has added approximately 1k during 15 years of ownership.

Power comes from a 3.2L flat-six from a later model year 911 that is paired with a 915/73 five-speed manual transaxle from a 1986 Carrera. Prior to installation, the engine reportedly received a valve job from Ollie’s Engineering in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and replacement chains, guides, seals, clutch, clutch cable, and associated hardware were installed. In addition, an S-style oil cooler and lines from Elephant Racing were fitted along with a new high-torque starter and fuel pump. The Bosch Motronic ECU unit was rebuilt in April 2019, and the engine’s sender connections were tightened in August 2019.

The seller notes that an approximately 2″ diameter area of rust was repaired on the pan. Records reportedly date back to new, and the sale includes the owner’s manuals as well as a tool kit, spare tire, green dot jack, five sets of keys, and several spare parts including the front bumperettes and original tachometer.

Thanks for your comments, guys. Sorry to see it go and yes, I think it was a bargain, too! However, I just need the space more than anything. I'll observe the 911 world from a distance from now on.
