FWIW, I emailed the archive with a couple of delivery questions (was my car really Tourist Delivery?). I received a reply that said the archive had corporate history, engineering and development data, and motorsports history. They claimed to have no information on individual cars.

Of course, that's probably to be expected, even if not 100% true. If they gave that info out freely, they'd be bombarded with requests. So you'd need to go through the F-o-a-F network (Friend of a Friend).

The books exist. You need a contact at the factory. That may be hard to come by given modern day German privacy laws and recent fraud with third party businesses that deal in Porsche.

How could they provide a CoA without information on individual cars?
FWIW, I love providing the Kardex. I get data on a lot of cars that I can use for my research, but even better I make someone happy most of the time. A few are disappointed because the Kardex was not filled in as it was designed to be; not sure who the culprit was that neglected this task. A bit of deep digging can, I believe, fill in the missing data.

I emailed the archive a few years ago and they confirmed all the detail on the Kardex...

a sheet like this is exactly what I need to find the original id number for my 1970 911t production number 1000491. Where did you find this 73 sheet? Porsche certainly is of no help!

so david have you seen sheets like this before, seems like it would be super easy to find the original manufacture info for any of the cars with these without a lot of research! Wish I could see the one for my production number

I have seen a similar sheet to the lower computer printout, but for some Karmann 72's. I have no idea where they get these sheets from. But again, the factory must have them in their archives else how would they have the info to produce the CoA's. The factory just finds it easier to deny these things exist.

So its obvious that the information is there. You'd think that the factory could release it to certain individuals or organizations with a little bit of vetting. Maybe someone who has a title and photos of the car and the data plate, or perhaps some of the more prominent and respected members of a forum like this one. Doesn't seem insurmountable.

Bill, that was done in the old days, but the changing of the guard there has resulted in the current situation. Now they seem to want to deny that the information exists. A very few individuals are now able to gain access, and really it needs to be physical access.

and my request is so simple, that it would take them just a few minutes to get the sheet and tell me the number. I even told them that I would bring the car to an authorized vintage dealer and have it inspected for the 500 dollar fee!

So Dave, again do you know anyone who can just do a quickie on 1000491? It WILL be 9110100211 9110100214 9110100215 or 9110100216. All of the rest are accounted for around those numbers, 216 says it is a five speed albert blue imported to the united states. Dave have you ever seen them make a mistake and the wrong production number listed for a car? 216 has production number 1000493 which is so close to mine 1000491. What are the possibilities that there are two albert blue 1818 5 speed coupes that close in line exported to the US?
