Are we looking for this? This should make all four registration numbers?

Sanders - I think you made Hugh’s year! Yes it was 29 that was missing! Since it dropped out so early.

    Well done!

    Sanders well Done!!!!
I have been looking for that photo, or one like it for many years - just like you had been looking for the ones I had

It certainly shows the value of the board

on the latter point thanks to Rower for suggesting that the tread be placed in a more prominant position and to the moderators for doing so

It makes me think we should create a thread of all GTS photos so we have them. I’d like to receive the highest resolution version by email.

And you were right Hugh. It was either the number before or after the other two.

I have 30 photos taken at the Marathon in an old email I just rediscovered, I'll forward.

So the four confirmed by factory GTS’s are:

119300004. Engine 6390004 Not raced in Marathon. Plate SH7347 (some SWB details)

119300003 Engine 6390006. Race number 30. Plate SH7686. Stripe: Red

119300008. Engine 6390007. Race number 29. Plate SH7687. Stripe: Yellow

119300009. Engine 6390008. Race number 28. Plate SH7685. Stripe: Blue

My guess is that this is all they made.

The rarest 911 model of all. Officially called by Porsche the 911 GT-S.

And my guess is also two of these that tried to enter in LeMans GT 2.0 class and were not accepted. We know the factory werks team tried to enter two 911’s in 1969 and they only built these as road race cars to our knowledge that year.

one minor correction to that I understand that the ORIGINAL engine in 119300004 was 6390004 but sanders may have more information on that

I thought it was a replacement engine hence the question mark. I just updated it.

So that almost fully completes the picture except for the alternate chassis numbers.

I am curious which SWB features 0004 had the others didn’t.

The only features 00004 has that are SWB are tail lights, for sure, front turn signals and horn grill, maybe, and the driver's door latch panel. Everything else is LWB.

As per Hugh's next post SWB vent windows.
