    British Grand Prix July 1974

...cine film captures the essence of being a spectator at Brands for the race weekend. Much as I recall the circuit from when I was younger.

Always felt the "natural amphitheater" of parts of the track and the contours made it good for spectators.

Home race for majority of the teams too but not quite as convenient for motorsport valley as Silverstone.

There are better videos of the actual racing but enjoy the atmosphere of the British GP in July 74.

Decades later we used to have a deal with the racing school at brands hatch for them to use Lotus Elise as tuition cars which was a good excuse to head down with a few colleagues from work in Hethel near Norwich for a spot of fun in those cars and in our company Lotus cars.

    Great footage, thanks for posting.

Hesketh in his bowtie. Smoking in the paddock. Rickety wooden fencing around the circuit. Beautiful.

Great to see footage like that!
The drivers were so much more interesting characters in those days than they are today.
And don’t get me started on comparing engine sounds from then and now!
