Thread: Accelerator linkage adjustment

  1. #61
I do this all the time, even did a presentation at Parade one year. I clamp the connector in the vise small end towards me. With lube I start one edge on the barrel and push sleeve on the barrel. I screw the link that goes to the bell crank into the barrel then screw the barrel onto the rod coming from bulkhead. The hardest part of the whole job is reaching into the boot with the 8 mm to tighten the nut. If I can find them I' ll post the pictures.

I actually found a very easy method...
Simply preposition the boot on the coupler, screw in the cable and tighten the lock nut. Then slide the boot into place.

Mine let me down end of last year on my 72 hotrod. Couldn't get one locally so windscreen urethane/wrapped in race tape, came to the rescue. (Image ex tape)
Have since bought the encased new one but think I'll wait and see how long the repair lasts.
Adjusted up ar the same time as repair and now feels like I have another 25hp.
