Guys,
So I have an extra fuel pump on the shelf from a 73 E MFI parted out long ago. Can this pump be saved and made trust worthy? If so, how?

1. After removing the 4 slot screws, I removed the cap from the end that has the inlet/outlet holes for the fuel lines and noticed two O rings. Is there a replacement source for these two O rings?

2. If not, can I soak the O rings in gasoline to get them to swell up, coat them with bearing grease for protection, reassemble and expect the fuel pump to function normally?

3. Or do I need to proceed further to resuscitate this pump? Do I need to circulate some kerosene through pump for storage protection?

My local Porsche dealer is quoting a price approaching 4 digits for a new one, so I would like to save this one as a traveling spare if possible.

Thanks

John
