Will it fit a 65 911 and will the small nut fit the threads?

Nice part but to be correct for early 65-69 the key is wrong, looks like swb electrical portion with LWB lock cylinder on the assembly. Hmmmm m
should be the small key for SWB cars with no plastic coating on the head of key.

My '66 has no steering lock (US version car) and certainly no plastic on the key!
1966 911 Coupe - Slate Grey - 304598 - still in restoration!

In USA the DOT did not approve a steering lock until 1970 when the one was developed that did not lock until the key was pulled out. That way you could shut off the car while in motion and the still turn the steering wheel, the lock activated only when the key was pulled out. This was the reason the design changed to the modern key. Mitch - Out of curiosity turn the key off and see if the lock pops out before the key is removed.

You have way too much useless information in your neural synaptic tundra.
I tried it and the lock only popped out when key was removed.Do I now have to sell this part as used ? Ha
I have 3 more and all configed the same. Maybe they manufactured the part using the best of both worlds ?
Regards
Mitch
