it si easy to get conflicting information in this stuff.

for what it is worth, the key with the plastic does not appear correct for SWB (i think that agrees with 'raspy2' and 'vintageexcellence'). at the same time, my '68 SWT had/has locking ignition when the key was removed (which makes perfect sense, given the open car), so the comment re locking wheel in '70 seems incompatible.

What you have to take into consideration is that this is a replacement part. Back in the day, Porsche may have not been so concerned with all the minutae of correctness. Get a couple of keys that work in the box and call it a day. Who knows

Late 70+ column lock with swb electrical portion is my guess. I’ll buy the swb portion alone. Pull out the electric portion and the later part will work with later cars no issue. Yes I have too much worthless info in my head.

No key buzzer either so this is a 70-71 part with no seat belt buzzer switch.

Not so weird. Made in 1970 for an earlier car. Porsche had to comply with newer safety regulations for their parts. Up to 10968 the keys were all the same. In 1969, they made them longer (added a tumbler to the lock) but otherwise the same. In 1970, the key changed, and so did the push-on electrical connectors on the back, went to round from blades. So this is a 1970 factory replacement part for the earlier year cars. (Might be 71, because they used orange keys one year and red the next. Too old to remember, or care, which. Even a car show judge should accept that as a real Porsche part, with a safety upgrade. Hope you sell them. I have a spare ignition for my locking 1969.

That's awesome information. You may be too old to remember or care, but I hope you're not too old to keep posting!
