    Where does this spring go?

I am assembling the oil lines for my 1971S, the ones in the engine bay that houses the filter/thermostat etc. Everything appears good - except I have this one spring leftover and my disassembly photos don't show it. Its different than an engine oil drain spring - any ideas where this should go? Thanks as always in advance....

I’ve never seen one of those before, but sometimes people put springs inside of oil lines to prevent them from kinking. Maybe it was inside that lower oil hose to the left of the thermostat?

Is that first picture yours or canford's ? Is that filter housing bolted to the oil tank? Angles look wrong.

I saw Canfords name on the photo, so didn't think it was your car, but agreed with Alan that springs are sometimes installed in hoses, usually radiator, but had never seen one used in oil lines. The installation in the picture looked like the set was slightly the wrong angle and therefore put a little more bend in that lower hose, but I found a picture of mine which seems to be of the same overall angle, so that isn't the problem,,,,,and I don't know where the spring would've been used
