    1970 911/02 911s motor and 902/1 transmission

I recently purchased two old vw’s in a package deal. One is a 1969 Karmann Ghia convertible that had been sitting in the corner of the gentleman’s back yard for around 38 years. It had a 1970 911S engine sort of installed in it. Engine build 911/02 #6300089. I've been told the bottom end is a 1970 911s and the original mechanical injection was removed and Weber carbs installed. One Case half is #901.101.101.2R and the other half is #901.101.102.1R. Attached to the engine is a 5 speed 902/1 transmission #3280585. I’m not a pro on the old Porsche’s but know these should be valuable to the right person with the right car. Asking $40,000. I know it's high but a starting point for discussion. If you have an interest contact me for more details. Gary 20190721_121623.jpg20190722_143018.jpg20190804_125817.jpg20190806_103839.jpg

@KoolShades, pardon the puns and the jokes, but you do have a valuable engine project. My recommendation is to take it to a reputable Porsche restoration shop and spend the money to have the engine and gear box unmated, cleaned and inspected, compression check'd, a peak inside with a borroscope, and have the carbs, intakes dissasembled and inspected. Document the discovery, inspection, cleaning with photos. (Don't dissasemble anything yourself unless you have significant experience with these motor/gearboxes, you could do significant harm.)

Otherwise you have a gearbox, engine and carbs that need complete rebuilds in the minds of most buyers plus experienced buyers also want to know if it's salvageable. If you can demonstrate, through inspection, that the bundle is salvagable.... then start the bidding. Don't be surprised if you only get 10k for the engine, a 1000 for the gearbox and 1000 for the carbs with the current presentation and documentation plus your lack of posts on this board. Everthing in the photos is like, covered in dirt, oil, grease and grime. Show us the beauty of this ugly duckling.
