    Momo Help Please

    Hi Guys

I picked this one up recently but I'm not exactly sure what it is! Momo370mm, flat - hopefully the pics might tell the rest of the story. No date, no model stamp, and sadly a painted front.... Any thoughts on value and how to remove the purple paint without ruining the black? I've been hunting through old Momo threads with no luck finding the same wheel. Thanks for any assistance.

Use a regular paint stripper gel. Won’t hurt the anodizing. There’s an old thread of mine showing an old silver Prototype that I bought that had been painted black. Cleaned up really nice.

Paint stripper is the way to go, preserves the original finish, as what happened when I bought a wheel from Paulo Bitton, that had been painted, and had a crack in a spoke ‘repaired’...and cracked again. Total scam, he still has my wheel and my money...crook.

Pay attention not to use paint stripper that is based on sodium hydrate - it will ruin the wheel immediately

Out of curiosity was the Prototipo logo always painted on a black wheel, or where some versions stamped?

Also were any wheels date stamped earlier than the mid 70"s?

    Thanks again
