both are correct for 67.. just depending if a early to mid modelyear car or a later VIN... parts catalog gives the exact changeover VIN(for coupe 308something if i remember correctly) pix 1+3 are the later version.

As Franz (Moito) wrote, check the change over vin number, but I suspect the 2 + 4 combination if at all on a 67 must have been for very, very early builds. I have never seen anything on a 67 other than 1 + 3, whether on a 912 or 911, Karmann or Porsche build.

    Thank you Franz,
    thank you Jim,

does someone have the part catalog and knows if 500248 and 500441 were built after the change over vin number?

    Kind regards

the reason why porsche changed the door striker/lock was because under certain driving conditions the doors could pop open.very often cars have been updated. e.g.when in the workshop for service (would not wonder if even without telling the owner)...the process of updating is described in the workshop manual ...

The parts book indicates the earlier system (2+4) used on coupe through 305100. The first 67 Targa (500001) was built with coupe series starting at 307351. This is for "normal." Same essential sequence pairings holds for "S." Thus, it is virtually certain that all coupes (and surely targas) of 1967 vintage had the later system (1+3) above. Moreover, as Franz points out above, the parts book calls for replacing the earlier system with the later system whenever repair is needed. Additionally, it can be concluded that the earlier system ended at the end of 1966 production, as the last "official" 1966 unit was indeed coupe number 305100.
