1973.5 911T targa
VIN 9113112103
Build 6/73
Engine 6135638
Very late production, one of the last long hoods built.
Metallic blue (not Gemini), PPS shows comfort group, antenna/speaker, sway bars, tinted glass and 15” Fuchs. Someone apparently added fender trim many years ago. It is a 5 speed. Paint and interior all new in 2017. Lakewood dash (one of the good ones from 2016) and door pockets. Only 1500-2000 miles on the car since the refresh in 2017.
The PPS is a recent one that doesn’t list engine numbers, but the serial number of the engine in the car matches the handwritten number on the original Service/Warranty booklet, so it is assumed to be matching. A few oil leaks, mostly from warped upper mag valve covers, I suspect. The car has an older Bursch exhaust on it.
True mileage unknown, the odometer hasn’t worked in decades. Both the clock and windshield washers are inoperable. Pretty much everything else works. When the current owners bought the car, all five flat-6 Fuchs had been replaced with four deep-6s on the ground and a 5.5” Fuchs in the spare. Edit - All 5 wheels now are freshly restored (anodized) flat-6 with 3-ear caps. Tires are Toyo 195/65-15 all season, dated from late 2014.
Original comfort seats are gone, replaced by refreshed but older non-Porsche Recaros (might be BMW E21 seats, or aftermarket, not sure which). Radio in the car now is a Retrosound unit with bluetooth. Speakers are mounted in an ABS under-dash cover, no holes in the door cards.
Despite long time ownership, only some service history is available. Shocks and strut inserts are new Sachs this last spring.
Only real flaws appearance-wise are that the shop that painted it reinstalled a lot of the original trim and weatherstripping rather than replace it. This may have been financial, I think they under-quoted the job. Some of this re-used rubber shows age, wear, and blue overspray and poor masking, not from the most recent paint, but from a paint job decades back.
The car runs and drives great. Firm and controlled handling, engine runs as it should, the 915 transmission shifts nicely, and the car sounds better than most with the Bursch exhaust. Like many older Porsches, it does drip a little oil after a day's drive, but not that much.
Priced at $72,000. The car is located in Eugene, OR and is available for personal inspection on appointment. PPI at buyer's expense is welcome. The car is not perfect nor concours, but is a beautiful refreshed driver/survivor right now. Contact me with questions or for additional pictures.
More pictures and details will be added soon.
