I disagree. Literally every single person I know is going exactly that!
He did say "nobody sane". And, yes, I qualify.

You weren't kidding when you said the front housing/lens were rarer (more expensive).

An NOS front turn signal housing on eBay for $1395

Pair of NOS front lens black trim: $1200 (eBay) Pair of NOS front lens silver trim: $1650 (eBay)

Besides the cost of original and NOS parts , the best builders, restorers and materials keep rising as well.
They are typically very busy and have a backlog for new work .
Engine machine work, parts, assembly , and correct details and can run $15-$30k especially for accurate MFI S engines.

Just because there may be a modest swing downward in prices...... none of the listed items needed for Restoration are going down and they shouldn’t.
We'll see how that goes when the next recession hits--sooner than later BTW. Trees dont grow to the sky.

I also agree, but we’re not sane 😁

everything gets hit in the front that is why there is so much rear "stuff" as compared to front. Also everything gets hit in the right rear rather than the left rear, so right rear "stuff" is more expensive

    Hi Doug,

The NOS housings are the 'newer' version as used on G series up to SC's. Different protection material on the wires, an extra vent hole in the housings and as Franz mentioned, check for the position of the drain hole. Pity if you buy NOS housings and need to drill a hole in the body to fit the drain tube.

    Regards,

    Cees

I got NOS housings later style and was not under any circumstances going to drill a new hole in my car body for the drain. I plugged up the drain hole in the housing using JB weld product and drilled a new hole in the housing that lined up with the car body hole for the drain. Original body remains in tact. Chris

How many parts on early 911’s are date stamped and are prominently displayed on our cars than these lenses?
And do we really think that there will be no new restorations of these cars over the next 10-20 years ?
Will wages and material costs increase over the next 10-20 years ?
How much does a new 911 cost and have prices increased over the last 10-20 years ?
The growth in number of millionaires in the world is growing at a staggering rate.
Who buys new Porsche’s and the related lifestyle ( this would include various models including early 911 examples)
So....if supply and demand still holds true as in the past , do we really think that $1,500 or $2,000 or even $3,000 for these lenses is a big deal ?

As a percentage of the cost and value these cars (1%) ....they are the biggest bargain that exists !
Buy as many sets as you can .......its not going to get any better
