A friend is getting his 71 911 Albert Blue coupe ready for paint. What are you folks doing out there for single stage paint today? Can’t find much info for Glasurit 22 Line. Any leads or other options would be greatly appreciated.
Best to all,
Rusty

I’m currently having my ‘69 911S repainted by Automobile Associates in CT. I had initially requested single-stage Glasurit (Polo Red) but the restorers at AA advised me that they much prefer using PPG single-stage (“...we’ve had some issues with Glasurit...”). I deferred to their experience and expertise so we’ll be using PPG.
They guarantee that I’ll be happy with the results.

I had my ‘66 for a repaint and wanted Glasurit single stage. Took a while to get the paint, but the results of test spraying panels were disappointing, so in the end went with PPGsingle stage and the results are very good...

We spray single stage Glasurit exclusively in my shop and we've been VERY pleased with the results compared to PPG. To a certain extent, I'm sure it's all about what your painter is most comfortable with, and PPG is certainly a fine product these days, but you'll find that among the highest-end restorations, and among the shops that are generally considered to be doing the very best 911 work, more are using Glasurit than anything else.

Going with ppg after discussing with shop owner and painter.

Ive used Glasurit 21 and 22 line since the 80s, no issues at all.
I used Glasurit 22 line on my 911 in 1999. It still looks like a new paint job 20 years later. It may not have that wet look any more although with a glaze and wax it might still; but I think even today with the water based Glasurit, it still is the best paint with the deepest pigments. If it is good enough for Porsche, its good enough for me. Chris
