    Hazard waring light problems

My hazard light did not work only a click , so I checked the relays i the footwell , no hazard can relay , only the yellow control light relay (hazard) and the grey relay for light signal -headlamp. The wires for the missing can was there taped sealed.

I bought the EL-13 relay for the flasher near the fusebox( it works more stable than the original aluminium can and the

Wolfsburg West flasher Part number 211953227BWW for 67-68 Bug and Bus flashers . This part is a combination flasher relay but it has terminals marked 30, S, vR, and vL.

I have head from others that it works

    I connected wires as follows

    30 - Green/White (Power)
    S - White/Red (Switch Ground)
R - Black/Green (Right Side Turn Signal Load)
L - Black/Grey (Left Side Turn Signal Load)

PING- The hazard works nicely......I shut it of and pull again to show my son...... nothing happens, It dont work ,What have I mised??

The seperate hazard (fuse) as seen on the diagram green/white is 8 amp and power is on , the relay make a littel click when I pull but not much.

    I have tryied to change the yellow relay ( 30-85-86-87 a) to a new 30 -85-86-87 -87 a ( leaving the 87 blank) but nothing happens??

what have I done wrong...... have all the spades on of cleaning , used most of the day in the footwell .....

can I have blown one of the relay ?

Sorry, this fell off my radar. Unfortunately the SWB cars are the most complicated in this area. I assume yours was a ROW car and therefore didn't have Hazard flashers, which is why the wires had covered ends. If you don't have you will need to find a wiring diagram showing the complete hook-up, and follow it completely using correct parts, not make shift parts. I can't diagnose this for you , but I can tell you this is how I'd approach it if it were in my shop to fix. I would first ensure that every wire is exactly as it would have wired for the U.S. market. Then if still doesn't work you're going to have to use ohm and volt meters to check EACH relay individually, and each light unit for voltage, grounds, and correct bulbs.

    Hi Ed

Nice to hear from you, my car is from USA delivery,( been the most of its life in Arizona) with the hazard switch and wiring as standard, the wiring/colour is 100% as the diagram. I just think the old relay have been bad and not replaced.

    thanks

    Hi Lars,
Did you ever figure out the problem here. I to replaced my hazard flasher with the VW part and did get it to work only to come back later and it didn't work anymore? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
    Matt
