Just my opinion, but I don't know of anyone who would dock you originality points for non-OE pistons. For one thing, there's no way for them to know, unless you tell them. Internal engine and transmission parts need not be factory brands, just need to be good stuff.

The 2.7 upgrade sounds like a no brainer, especially since there's no way to tell from the outside. It all looks the same. But it is a one-way trip, as the engine case needs to be bored out to accept the larger 2.7 cylinders.

Your car looks great, I'm sure it garners many compliments. I know, because since the last time I posted here in your thread, my car was not a pretty sight to see. But now, yours and mine are extremely similar looking. And I know I get comments anywhere I go in it.

Hi Arne. Thanks for the input. Makes sense. Beautiful car!! Not that I am biased. And to be filed under strange coincidences I am on flight right now on Alaska Air to visit my daughter in Bend Oregon, which looks like practically your neighborhood! And hopefully you are safe from all these fires.

To me JE pistons sound different compared to factory pistons especially on start up.

For a special car like yours, I would just step up and buy a new Mahle piston cylinder set. Done... once you bore the case for 2.7, as they said above, no going back. Original case ruined. If you need more speed, build a separate hot rod engine for it and shelf the original.
