Gasket / Seal on Front Turn Signal Housing

    Hi Everyone:

I am about to replace the gaskets on my front turn signal housings and had a few questions before I started the process. Rest assured, I have the Genuine Porsche parts for the job.

    1. Does the housing need to be removed from the car to install the new gaskets?
1a. If so, is the housing held on by just the 2 screws that can be seen with the lens removed?
1b. If one screw happens to snap, what are the details/sizes of the screws?
    2. Does the new gasket need to be glued to the housing?
2a. If so, will standard 3M super glue do the job?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Yes
    1a. Yes
1b. 5mm machine screw, broken remnant would be very difficult to remove from pot metal housing.
    2. Yes
    2a. 3M yes, I use contact cement.

Yes, you have to remove the two 5mm screws(sic-631-901-00) to partially release the housing. The trick is not ruining the lock nut retainers(999-507-312-12-oem) in the process. To fully remove the housing there are 2 screws to undo from behind in the electrical connection(very awkward access).

Thanks very much! This should make for a fun weekend project. If there are any known "tricks of the trade," please share!

Awesome. The pictures are a huge help. To make sure I have it right, it sounds like there are: (a) 2 screws on the face of the housing (these I can easily see; one sounds like it snapped, but I can't be sure as of yet); and (b) 2 screws behind the housing.

Does the housing have to come out completely for the gasket job or can I work on removing the old gasket and installing the new one with just the first 2 screws (noted above in (a)) out? I recognize that it might be a little tight, just want to make sure it's not impossible.

Following up. All went well. New gaskets and lenses installed (and without having to take the housings all the way out, no less). Thanks again for the details and pictures. Your help did the trick.
