    The pictures are great. My sample looks like your original piece in pictures, but darker in person. Is yours darker in person as well? If so, I think I am onto something.

    All along it has looked too dark to me to describe it as fawn. I have real fawn running all over where I live and they are much lighter. Absolutely beautiful. Unless you hit them with your car.

    Photos on the computer are poor examples of the real thing. Color and intensity of illumination when the photo was taken, color rendition by the photo processing software, image compression algorithms, and screen calibration make it nearly impossible to get true color. Better is to get samples of the real thing to compare. My stolen photo from John's thread was meant to show shade variations between different parts as much as anything else.

    Thanks Dave. The frustrating part of these restorations is that you just can’t go back 55 years in time to the factory and pull out the parts and materials you need. In the end you end up with a combination of truly original parts and finishes and representations of others. We all envy those with all original cars.
