WTB: ZF LSD for 901 Gearbox

Looking for a good ZF LSD for a 901 gearbox. Anyone got anything for sale?

Is this for a aluminium box or mag?

Box is magnesium. Do you need a different LSD for each type?

You cannot use a SWB ZF LSD in a mag transmission housing or in a 69-71 car.
You should be more specific about the transmission model.

Aluminium case used the small 904 LSD, Mag case used a larger LDS

My 904 ZF LSD was converted to run in 911 transaxle. It can be done, just not worth the trouble I'm sure. The larger LSD will be easier to find.

Here's a graphic from Guard Transmission on differential dimensions from 64 to 88...

The dimensional differences between the 901 aluminum and 901/911/914/915 mag case diffs are significant, and don't even address the early ZF male -vs- female axle flange issue.

That’s very helpful - thank you everyone for your advice. My gearbox is a 1969 901/13 magnesium case. Still looking for a suitable ZF diff. Or failing that a modern version of a plate diff for fast road / track day purposes.

You might look at Gripper lsd, made in merry olde.

Philip, gripper do one that fits, probably the best diff out there now, discuss with them your requirements and set up needs
You may have to buy the output flanges also,i just purchased for my 904.
