    904 prototype, #2 or # 3, 43. autosalon brussel, 15.-26.01.1964

while doing the vin 13326 genève research,
    https://www.early911sregistry.org/fo...-12-22-03-1964
i stumbled across these images and video:

In 1963 three 904 prototypes had been built in consecutive row 904.001-.003.
They had been equipped with the 587/2 engine as the more powerful 587/3 was still in finishing by Mr. Mezger. The 587/3 aggregate had been produced in a batch of 100, bringing 180 net bhp at 7.200rpm, 145 poundfeet of torque at 5.000 rpm, all with open style muffler.

The first recorded 904 run out had been 29.08.1963 in Weissach, prior to acceleration testing at Nürburgring and and durability testing at Hockenheimring.

The early dashboard had a deep cowling with the tachometer in the center above the other gauges. The steering wheel had been a two spoke version, which was later changed to three spokes. (http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...74#post1040674). The geometry was altered due to height issues. On the left side of the dash had been a pull switch for the optional webasto heater located in the front of the car. It is recorded, that 67 904 left the factory with this option.

Next to the 904 is a 901 prototyp, anyone has further info on this?
    I do assume 13326, "quickblau"??

The other pictures are from the official presentation at the Solitude circuit on 26.11.1963, location is at the old paddock, today's ADAC traffic training area.

Heinkel started to deliver the first serial chassis to Porsche during November 1963. Edgar Barth and Herbert Linge had been the drivers for this press day to chauffeur press or and customers. The pricing was set at 29.700 Deutsche Mark (7.425 USD), with a down payment of a third on contract signature. Within two weeks all but 21 of the 904 would have been sold - the factory kept the first 10 chassis numbers for itself.

The coloured picture is the cover of the press report from Hobby, 2/1964, 15.01.1964.
Coloring might be Lechler blau 5012 (Lichtblau / Pastell blue R5012??)
    red testing licence plate S - 04328

Huschke von Hanstein´s press release from 25.11.1963:
“Porsche does not intend to build ‘airport-racers’, but rather cars which can be entered successfully in all sort of races including a Targa Florio”

On April 26th 1964 Porsche did win the Targa Florio with 904-005, 587/3, license plate S TJ-17, driven by Colin Davis and Antonio Pucci. (http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...ata-dump/page3) #25
