77 911s check for “matching numbers”

I am looking at a 1977 911s, I wanted to know how to match up vin with engine and tranny numbers. Any help would be much appreciated!

    Folz,

You didn't mention if the car is a coupe or Targa, US import or ROW (rest of world)

    My book shows K series '77 US 911S coupe VIN's run between 9117200001 - 9117203388 with the engines running 6270001 - 6276041 engine type (911/85)

    Hope this helps,

    cm

Actually, a lower cost solution now exists. I am now able to get information similar to the CoA of old, and at about the same cost.

I don't know if there is a limit, but the newest has been a 1989 so far.
