I’ll pass your info on to Phil - he loved that car! Thanks! Do you know what the personal plate was?
The UK rego plates were interesting - enabling you to track the year - kept the one from my first Porsche, 1973 911S 2.4 which I imported to NZ in ‘84 - centre of photo.Name: 98AB13B4-C3C0-4B41-9F07-6CC8FE19684E.jpg

You might know this already but in addition to year (L suffixx was 1 August 1972 – 31 July 1973) the letter combination _CK denoted its first registration was in the Preston Council vehicle licencing district in the north west of England. At that time the licencing was done by County council or Borough council offices before being centralised into the Driver and Vehicle Licencing Agency in Swansea, Wales (known as DVLA). Records were adopted onto the DVLA computer rogressively from around the mid 70s. For example my 73 car logbook shows the original county council stamp on the papr green log book from exact day it was registered and then three years later later there is a docket showing the transfer of the car to another county council licencing area -- 3 years was a traditional duration for ownership of a new car in that era often linked to typical term of company car benefit in kind schemes here in the UK. Thereafter it's papers show it being adopted on the DVLA system as centralisation on a single computer system tsking over the regional paper based system with their logbooks and stamps and handwritten notes of tax paid.

Not sure where your 73 S was purchased but there was a dealer in Westmoreland called Parker and Parker of Kendal around that time or maybe Ian Anthony too. For some reason I thought Preston had a Porsche dealership on 73 but only Ian Anthony or Parker and Parker show up on the official service outlet booklet so maybe I'm wrong or maybe they were sales only outlet Preston back then?

Steve, I didn’t know the significance of the CK - that’s very interesting. A bit like your UK pin-point specific post codes!!! Thanks! AND you are spot on. My 911 was purchased in Manchester, and I recall Parker & Parker appeared on the service documents of the time. I recall visiting the Ian Anthony dealership while I lived in Manchester to ogle the new Porsches. And later got to know Jeff Moyes in London. I sold the 911 back in ‘94 to (help) purchase my 356A Convertible D. Fortunately, I had bought my wife a ‘72 911T (cunning move) so I wasn’t totally 911-less. BTW, does the name Eric Lanz ring a bell with you?

I know Jeff. He had an RS at one point. Jeff was the go to person at AFN for older cars until he left. Most of the others at AFN clueless on older stuff. Saw him at Goodwood FOS and at a specialist open day some years ago but not seen him around since then. Hope he is ok. I've heard name Eric Lanz but don't know him.

If you are coming to UK sometime give me a shout and can grab a beer if you wish?

Today we did the zip line and shot over jet boat.
Tomorrow might rain but we are doing AJ Hackett bungy and paragliding.

New Zealand’s scariest haunted house too!

Will rent a helicopter and explore some glaciers next day then off to Milford sound.

Action packed! Save the glow worm caves when we get back to north island.
