Your fictitious North Hollywood frames are probably popular with PORSCHE people because of this. Be sure to tell them that Original COMPETITION MOTORS NORTH HOLLYWOOD license frames never existed.

    Read that story. Interesting

I've seen CM frames from Inglewood, Woodland Hills, and Culver city . . . but never Hollywood

    But --- I have seen . . .

    . . . a pre-'55 frame --- back when the plates were still over-sized . . . + when Mr Von Neuman first started doing business

    As to values, well . . .

F5D515A7-36B4-4325-BE48-D2512A3B5730.jpgVery nice example. Actually priced fairly imho. I bought this one years ago on here and it was priced commensurately then, ie; expensive. Real ones VERY rarely come up for sale.

I like the OP’s unrestored frame better and would pay more for that one, but I’d sell my restored one if anyone is interested. Or I’ll trade for the unrestored one! Your frame just looks great!

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all of the interest, some lovely stories come with interest of these old parts.

It’s now sold. Unfortunately the table cloth is not for sale.

It’s funny that my advert made its way into the ‘Seriously’ topic within moments of me posting it, which seems to be for hugely over priced parts. Just for the record, I could have sold it 6x over, some offers for more than the asking price. It has sold to the first person who contacted me on Thursday, sorry to disappoint others who wanted it.

    Many thanks
    David

. . . while some of the posted items may come off as 'over-priced,' part of my reason for posting there is to give an idea as to what some of this stuff goes for

'Member The Beckster's $12k NOS dash? I sure do

Seen any NOS dashes since? I sure haven't

Point is, it's easy for people who don't want/need/know anything about stuff to grouse about the asking prices

Something else entirely to even see some o' this stuff for sale . . .

    . . . like, at any price

I looked for one of those CM frames for decades --- back when I had a 356 . . .

. . . woulda pretty-much paid just about anything to get one, too

(Proud to say that when the price I paid for mine got out --- a lot of more o' these frames started turning-up for sale)

So, now that prices are 'up there,' stuff that might never have left the barn --- or, in my case, the Avacado orchard . . . actually comes up for sale

And besides . . . asking 's not necessarily the same as getting --- as per above . . .

    Hi LongRanger,

No offence meant and I wasn’t trying to be smug about it. I just thought it was comical that people were happy to comment, without necessarily knowing all of the facts. I tried to base my price on things I’d read on this forum, which I value (it included your input on the post I read). I don’t think it was you who said “is that his price or his zip code” maybe a little more research before a negative comment would be more productive.

    Hi, Schläfer . . .

. . . no offence taken, My Friend --- = no worries. I mean, we're talking license plate frames, here, for gosh-sakes

Despite whatever the OP's original intent may 've been, most of my contributions to the 'Seriously' thread are usually offered without comment. I treat it more as a catalog --- NOT a commentary

I mean, really --- regardless of the prices . . . some of the stuff that gets posted there is pretty breath-taking

And as for any remarks (one way or t'other) from commentators on this site? . . .

. . . I would only have them consider what corresponding part they have on their car

So that maybe next time they see an NOS dash, or a after-market steering wheel or seat, or a Big Tank --- or even a stupid/nasty/krusty/old license plate frame . . .

. . . they might consider --- NOT just what the thing they're looking at is (though hopefully they might know more?) . . .

. . . but what someone did --- maybe what they gave up . . . to have it

As far as I found out, my 65 had been delivered by Competition Motors in Culver city, and then subdistributed in Pasadena.
There had been the subdealer Tranc Ocean Motors, which had been 1.2 miles off my first owner....

The license plate frame is up @the bay

I’d pay a lot for a Carl Block Transport from Oakland unrestored frame.

Or trade my competition motors frame like this one that just sold even up.
