Thread: Remembering Cris Huergas

  1. #41
As the R Gruppe started to grow, Chris realized that we needed to have National Chapters. Chris appointed me East Coast Chaptermeister. I was honored. It didn't last to long as he didn't realize how busy I was with a business and family. Still, I was glad to see he had the trust in me to move the east coast forward.
Even though my west coast trips have slowed way down in the last 10 years or so, he always called to see how things were going.
To say he had a impact on the early 911 world is a understatement. I'll miss you my friend.

Been thinking about Cris often these past couple of days. I sure will miss him. He always had a big smile and wanted to know how you were doing. Every time I saw spoke with him he asked how the kids and family are doing. Great kindness and heart!

One of a few pictures I have of Cris. Shows many great things - Friends, Fun, Comradery, and 911R.

    God Bless the Huergas Family.

August 2017 Monterey, CA: I’m just a random Porsche enthusiast that gets thrown in with the R Gruppe displaying my RS Tribute at Concours on the Avenue. I knew no one! Cris reaches out, embraces there are actually air cooled Porsche’s in Iowa that aren’t tractors, and from Monterey Car Week 2017 to R Gruppe Treffen 2018 and 2019 later I’ve met some of the most wonderful car enthusiasts and people. I think of Cris as a humble connector of people. Just an inspiring and energizing human being that I’m blessed to have crossed roads with. From the bottom of my heart and from the cornfields of Iowa thank you Cris! RIP.

Sharing the same pages were news headlines of the opening of the first world Official Porsche Centre built to Porsche AG’s new corporate standards; the public release for the name for the “new Porsche SUV”; and the launch of the latest Butzi Porsche designed watch.
    All fittingly significant events.

    - A shot I took at our first big RGruppe gathering in Cambria, May '2000 ...
Cris was right in the middle orchestrating the entire parking lot.....
He knew what he wanted, and what it should look like to the rest of the world....

    - Another shot with Cris and the buds at the Treffen Monterey '2004...

Sorry for the quality, these are scanned photos of mine... I didn't go digital until '05...

    Thumbs up

Here's a page in AutoWeek from June '2000, only a month after that first big Cambria gathering. It was written by our late friend, and already member of the Early 911 community, Pat Paternie (Author of the Porsche 911 Red Book 1965-1999)

And the first page of a Pat Paternie Excellence article that came out Dec '2000...

All of us who knew Pat miss him still....

And those who knew Cris will start missing him soon enough...
