That is the question...I am told they are different. How to identify a '69 air intake mesh. I have been offered one of each, but want to make sure they are model year correct. My car was built in March 1969. Thanks

Thanks ....sorry for poor terminology, I am looking at the trunk lid/engine lid/boot lid...pic included.....what year are these?
68-69 both have the "Five bar" grills. Due to this the lid is different from other years to mount the grill. I'm pretty sure 68 and 69 are interchangeable but some of the other 69 guys can maybe verify.

Nashman:
You have a 70+ decklid and what looks like a messed up screen.
The 68.5-69 decklid looks like this: Note the missing tabs for the 5 bars, as the 69 screen only has three bars.
The 68.5-69 screen visual example is here
Totally my bad as I had them backwards. Car has been apart for so long I forgot that 69 is three bar and later cars are five.

Within the past year an illustrated chart appeared on this site which depicted the changes that occurred in 911/912 engine lids during their production runs. I had saved this chart without specific reason, but knowing it would be useful someday. Unfortunately, a computer crash wiped out many of my images before I could post the chart to this thread. I have searched this site using all the inquiries I can think of, but have not been able to find this chart again. Does anyone else remember it along with the ability to re-post same. The chart depicts five or six lids arranged in a vertical column each identified by its years of use.
Finally found what I was looking for on another computer. Hope it is helpful to someone.
Excellent ! ... Thank you
